Hello and welcome to my website.
My name is Tim Keay and I'm a web/graphic designer from Northampton, UK. Most of my skills and knowledge are self-taught, and I am currently studying a part-time graphic design degree at the local university. There, I am learning a lot about the design industry, whilst developing a range of manual abilities as well increasing my proficiency with industry-standard design software.
Designing websites began as a personal interest, teaching myself how to create fansites for a number of bands I was into. I then got more interested in creating more professional layouts, both visually and technically. This led me to look more into standards-compliance and sharpen my knowledge of XHTML and CSS.
Gradually wanting more from my sites, I began developing sites using the open source content management system, Joomla. This has enabled me to gain more functionality from my websites and I am currently teaching myself PHP and MySQL to support this further.
Besides design, I have a number of other interests - music (being a fan of rock and blues), computer gaming, travel, football, technology, comedy (especially Family Guy and Eddie Izzard) and the internet. These will probably feature in my blog from time to time.
This site is primarily intended as an online portfolio; somewhere to display the various websites and graphic design projects I have worked on, as well as a selection of my college work.
